Background
The Abbey Business Centre (ABC) was set-up to provide incubation workspace to small start-up businesses in 1995. The Board of ABC oversees the management and running of the Enterprise Centre. The centre is also managed by Sharon O Gorman on a part-time basis. Sharon is based in the centre and is available in the mornings or by appointment.
There are 11 units, most of which are occupied at the moment. Many of the present and former tenants are/have been clients of the Kilkenny County Enterprise Board.
Role of ABC Board
The role of the Board of ABC is to:
- Consider and decide upon tenant applications;
- Set rental rates;
- Agree development issues;
- Decide on maintenance & upkeep;
- Ensure and safeguard the financial running of the Centre; etc.
General information on the Units in the Abbey Business Centre
- The units are Broadband enabled
- The units are approximately 200-250sq feet.
- They are ideal for 2-3 people
- Rent on a unit in €250 plus 21% VAT per month
- There is a service charge of €50 per month which is for the light, heat and maintenance of the public areas
- Each unit is separately metered for ESB and each unit has an Eircom phone line which needs to be connected on moving into the unit
- A deposit of €295 must be paid when the Licence Agreement has been signed you will get the deposit back when you leave, if the unit is left in good condition for re-letting and and all outstanding bills on the unit have been cleared
- The maximum stay is five years and for every year there is an increase in the rent.
